Curriculum Designer & Former High School Teacher

About

Sarah Mitchell is a curriculum designer with twelve years of high school classroom experience across biology, chemistry, and earth science. She left full-time teaching in 2023 to focus on curriculum design for AI-assisted assessment tools.

Her writing on SimpleQuizMaker focuses on what actually works in the classroom: how to write quiz questions students learn from (not just guess on), how to integrate AI quiz tools without losing pedagogical control, and how to keep assessment serving learning rather than the other way around.

Sarah holds an M.A. in Science Education from Stanford and a B.S. in Biology from UC Berkeley. She lives in Oakland with her husband and two children. Outside of work, she runs a small Sunday school program and tests her quiz design heuristics on a deeply unimpressed group of fifth graders.
