Is Quizlet Plus Worth It in 2026? An Honest Cost Breakdown
TL;DR. Quizlet Plus is worth it if you already live in Quizlet, lean on Learn mode and practice tests every week, and would otherwise hit the free plan's caps. It is not worth it if you mostly flip cards, if you are willing to learn Anki (free on desktop and Android), or if what you really want is AI-generated cards from your notes, which cheaper tools such as our AI flashcard maker also do. Prices below are as reported in September 2026; Quizlet's own pricing page varies by region and platform, so check it before you buy.
What Quizlet Plus costs
As of September 2026, third-party price trackers report Quizlet Plus at about $35.99 a year (roughly $3 a month) or about $7.99 billed monthly, with a higher Plus Unlimited tier at about $44.99 a year. The 7-day free trial is attached to annual plans. Buying inside the iOS app can cost more than buying on the web, so if you are going to pay, pay on the website.

What the free plan still gives you
Quizlet's free plan is narrower than it was a few years ago, but it is not useless:

When Plus is worth the money

Your class runs on Quizlet. If your teacher shares sets and everyone studies in the same app, switching tools has a social cost. Pay and stay.
You rely on public sets. For a standard course (AP Biology, intro psychology, a common textbook), someone has probably already made the set. No other app matches that library.
When it is not worth it
You only flip cards. Flipping and Match are free. Paying to unlock modes you do not use is money wasted.
You want real long-term retention. Anki is free on desktop and Android and its FSRS scheduler is better suited to multi-year material than Quizlet's Learn mode. The cost is time: Anki takes an evening to understand. Our AI vs Anki comparison goes through the trade.
You mainly want cards from your own notes. If the appeal of Plus is AI-generated sets, compare it with dedicated tools. With SimpleQuizMaker you paste your notes (up to 50,000 characters) or type a topic and get a deck of 5 to 50 cards you can edit, then review with spaced repetition. The free plan gives 5 generations a month with up to 20 cards each; Student is $2.99 a month for 25 generations and up to 50 cards. It does not have Quizlet's library, offline mode, or export, so it is a different trade, not a straight replacement.
A quick cost-per-use check
Suppose you study four nights a week during a 15-week semester. That is 60 sessions. At about $36 a year, and assuming two semesters of use, Plus costs around 30 cents per session. That is cheap if Learn mode is what makes those sessions work. If you would have been flipping cards in the free tier anyway, it is 30 cents for nothing.
Do the same maths with your own numbers before the trial converts. Set a calendar reminder for day 6 of the trial.
"Is Quizlet Plus or Anki better?"
It depends on the horizon:
Whichever you pick, study by recalling the answer before you flip. The what is active recall explainer covers why that matters more than which app you use.

Bottom line
Quizlet Plus is fairly priced for heavy Learn-mode users and weak value for everyone else. Before you start a trial, spend ten minutes testing a free option: paste this week's notes into the flashcard maker and see whether an AI-drafted deck with spaced review covers what you were going to pay for.
