Understanding the quota
Quizzes are the unit we count, not questions or AI calls. Generating a 50-question quiz from a PDF counts as one quiz, the same as a 5-question icebreaker. Editing a question after generation, sharing the quiz link, or having 500 people take it doesn't count against your quota — only the act of creating a new quiz. Generating an AI flashcard deck draws from the same monthly generation count.
On the Free plan you get 5 brand-new quizzes per calendar month, refreshing on the 1st. The Student plan gives you 25 generations a month so you rarely have to ration; build, regenerate, and iterate freely.
We don't charge separately for AI tokens, image OCR, PDF parsing, or YouTube transcript fetching. Whatever's in your plan is in your plan.
Schools and departments
We don't sell school or district plans, seat licences, or invoiced billing. Each teacher can use the free plan or their own Student plan, and students who take quizzes never need an account or a plan. Questions? Email hello@simplequizmaker.com.

How does the free plan work?
The free plan gives you 5 AI quiz generations per month with up to 10 questions each — forever, no credit card needed. The quota refreshes on the 1st of each calendar month. There’s no trial period that suddenly demands payment.
What counts as one quiz against my quota?
One quiz generation = one quota use. The size of the quiz (5 questions vs 30) doesn’t matter, the input type (PDF, image, YouTube, text) doesn’t matter, and editing the questions afterwards doesn’t count either. Only pressing "Generate" on a new quiz counts.
Do flashcards use my quota?
Yes — generating an AI flashcard deck counts as one generation against your monthly quota, the same as a quiz. On Free you get 5 generations per month shared across quizzes and flashcard decks, with 10–20 cards per deck. The Student plan gives 25 generations per month and allows up to 50 cards per deck. Studying existing decks never counts.
Can I upgrade or downgrade later?
Yes. Upgrade anytime — paid features unlock immediately and you’re prorated for the remaining month. Downgrade anytime — your higher tier stays active until the end of the current billing period, then drops down to the new plan.
How do I cancel?
One click in your billing settings. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for; we don’t cut access mid-period or charge cancellation fees. You can also keep using the free tier after canceling — your account isn’t deleted.
Do you offer refunds?
Yes — 14-day money-back guarantee on all paid plans, no questions asked. Email hello@simplequizmaker.com from the address on your account and we’ll process the refund.
What payment methods do you accept?
All major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) via Creem, our PCI-compliant payment processor. We don’t see or store your card details.
Is my payment information secure?
Yes. Card data goes directly from your browser to Creem (PCI DSS Level 1 certified) — it never touches our servers. Subscription state is stored on our side; the card itself lives at the payment processor.
Do students taking my quiz need to pay?
No. Quiz takers are always free — they click your shareable link, enter a name, take the quiz. Only the quiz author (you, the teacher / creator) has a SimpleQuizMaker account. Even on the Free plan, an unlimited number of people can take quizzes you publish.
What happens if I exceed the free quota mid-month?
You’ll see a notice prompting you to upgrade or wait until the 1st of next month for the quota to reset. Quizzes you already created stay live; you just can’t generate new ones until either upgrading or the reset.
Do you offer education discounts?
The Free tier is already free forever and most solo teachers find it sufficient. For larger needs the Student plan at $2.99/mo is already below what most ed-tech tools charge per-classroom.
Can I get a free trial of paid features?
The Free tier IS the trial — there’s no expiring trial period. If you want to test paid features specifically (PDF upload, longer quizzes, analytics), pick a monthly plan and use the 14-day money-back guarantee if it’s not for you.
