SSC CGL Practice Test: Tier-I Pattern and 50 Questions
The Combined Graduate Level Examination is the Staff Selection Commission’s computer-based exam for Group B and Group C posts in central government departments. It runs in two tiers. Tier-I is a one-hour objective test in four equal sections; candidates shortlisted from it sit Tier-II, whose Paper-I is compulsory for every post. Use the 50 original questions below to practise the Tier-I mix.

How the CGL exam is structured
- Tier-I: General Intelligence and Reasoning25 questions, 50 marks, 15-minute sectional timer.

- Tier-II Paper-I (all posts)Session-I: Section-I (Mathematical Abilities and Reasoning, 60 questions), Section-II (English Language and Comprehension 45 + General Awareness 25), Section-III (Computer Knowledge Test, 20 questions). Session-II: Section-IV, a 15-minute Data Entry Speed Test. Every section must be qualified separately.

SSC CGL tips

Are these official SSC CGL questions?
No. All 50 questions were written for this page to mirror the Tier-I sections. They are not taken from SSC papers, and the Commission has no connection with this site.
How many questions are in SSC CGL Tier-I?
According to the official notice, 100 questions: 25 each in General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Comprehension, for 200 marks in 1 hour.
Is there negative marking in SSC CGL?
Yes. Tier-I deducts 0.50 marks per wrong answer. In Tier-II, Sections I–III of Paper-I deduct 1 mark per wrong answer, and Papers II and III deduct 0.50.
Does everyone take every Tier-II paper?
No. Paper-I is compulsory for all posts. Paper-II (Statistics) is only for JSO and Statistical Investigator Grade-II, and Paper-III (Finance and Economics) only for Assistant Audit Officer / Assistant Accounts Officer.
What can I do on the free plan?
