How to Make a Quiz on Telegram (Native Quiz Mode + Bots)

Share:XLinkedIn

TL;DR. Telegram is unusual among chat apps — it has a genuine native Quiz mode with a correct answer and an optional explanation. For single questions it is excellent and free; for multi-question, timed, scored quizzes with leaderboards, use Telegram own QuizBot or drop an external quiz link.

Native Quiz polls

Unlike most chat apps, Telegram polls have a dedicated Quiz mode:

  • In a chat, group, or channel, tap the attachment icon and choose Poll.
  • Type your question and answer options.
  • Toggle on Quiz Mode.
  • Mark the one correct answer.
  • Optionally add an explanation that appears after someone answers.
  • Choose whether the poll is anonymous, then send.
  • Members tap an answer and immediately see whether they were right, plus your explanation. That makes a single Telegram quiz poll a real micro-learning moment, not just a vote.

    Limits of the native quiz

  • One question per poll — there is no cumulative score across several quiz polls.
  • No leaderboard in plain polls — you cannot rank participants automatically.
  • One correct answer only — no multi-select grading.
  • For a single check-for-understanding, none of this matters. For a game or a test, you want a bot.

    Quiz bots for multi-question games

Telegram official QuizBot lets you build multi-question quizzes that run as timed games:

  • Start a chat with QuizBot and create a new quiz.
  • Add questions, correct answers, and optional explanations and images.
  • Get a share link or start the quiz directly in your group.
  • The bot times each question, scores players, and posts a leaderboard at the end.
  • Best for study groups, community trivia nights, and channels that want recurring scored games.

For longer or AI-generated quizzes with full analytics:

  • Build the quiz on a dedicated tool.
  • Share the link in your chat, group, or channel.
  • Members take it in the browser; you get per-person results.
  • Common use cases

  • Channels — a daily native Quiz poll to engage subscribers.
  • Study groups — QuizBot games on a shared subject.
  • Communities — themed trivia nights with a leaderboard.
