SimpleQuizMaker vs Blooket: Honest Comparison

Share:XLinkedIn

TL;DR. Blooket is a game platform: you bring a question set and students play it live, solo or as homework across many game modes. SimpleQuizMaker is an AI quiz generator: it writes the questions from a topic or your material and shares a plain quiz link. Want energy in the room, pick Blooket. Want the questions written for you, pick SimpleQuizMaker.

SimpleQuizMaker publishes this comparison; we checked Blooket's public pages on 6 October 2026.

What each tool is for

Blooket describes an ever-expanding library of game modes that can be played live, played solo, or assigned as homework. The question set is the raw material and the game is the product. A teacher hosts, students join, and the review session becomes a competition.

SimpleQuizMaker starts one step earlier. You type a topic or paste your notes, the AI drafts a quiz, you edit it, and you share a link. Respondents open the link and answer without creating an account. There is no hosted game, no leaderboard show and no avatars: the product is the quiz itself, plus the results and spaced-repetition flashcards built from it.

That difference shapes everything below. The two tools overlap less than their categories suggest, and plenty of teachers use one to write questions and the other to play them.

Where Blooket is better

  • Live classroom energy. Blooket's entire design is the hosted game. If your goal is a lively Friday review where the room cheers, a plain quiz link will not compete.
  • Variety of game modes. With many different modes, the same question set can be replayed in different formats, which keeps repeated review from feeling repetitive. Some modes are reserved for Plus subscribers.
  • Three ways to play one set. The same set can be run live, played solo, or assigned as homework, so one piece of preparation covers several situations.
  • Motivation for younger students. Game mechanics reward participation in a way a quiz score does not. For many elementary and middle-school classes that is the whole point.
  • Choose Blooket if engagement during review is the problem you are solving and you are happy to write or import the questions yourself.

  • The questions get written for you. Type a topic or paste a reading and the AI produces a draft in seconds. On the Student plan you can also upload a PDF, DOCX or image, or point it at a URL or YouTube video. Blooket expects you to bring the content.
  • No hosting required. A SimpleQuizMaker quiz is a link. Students can take it in class, at home or on a phone, at their own pace, with no session to start.
  • Four real question types, including short answer and fill in the blank, which test recall rather than recognition.
  • Study after the quiz. Questions can become SM-2 spaced-repetition flashcards, so the material comes back at intervals instead of being played once.
  • Unlimited submissions, even on the free plan, so class size is never the constraint.
  • Pricing (as of October 2026)

Blooket is free to use, with Blooket Plus sold individually or as a group plan. Its help center lists Plus benefits such as Plus-only game modes and larger games (300 players versus 60). We could not load a Plus price on Blooket's public pages today, so check their site before budgeting.

SimpleQuizMaker's free plan includes 5 AI quiz generations a month and up to 10 questions per quiz. The Student plan is $2.99/month or $29.99/year, with 25 generations a month, up to 100 questions per quiz, file, URL and YouTube input, analytics and exports. Full details are on the pricing page.

    Which should you choose?

  • Pick Blooket if you run live review games, want many game formats from one question set, and already have (or enjoy writing) the questions.
  • Pick SimpleQuizMaker if writing questions is your bottleneck, if students take quizzes on their own time, or if you want flashcards and results rather than a game show.
  • Use both if you want AI-drafted questions and a live game: generate and edit in SimpleQuizMaker, then rebuild the set in Blooket by hand. There is no direct export between them.
