Sample Japanese Quiz Questions
A flavour of what the AI generates — every question comes with an explanation that teaches, not just grades.
Q1. What is the hiragana for "ka"?
- A.さ
- B.か
- C.た
- D.は
Explanation
か = ka. さ = sa, た = ta, は = ha/wa. Hiragana memorisation is the first major task for Japanese learners.
Q2. The て-form of 食べる (taberu = to eat) is:
- A.食べた
- B.食べて
- C.食べます
- D.食べない
Explanation
食べて (tabete) is the て-form, used for requests, sequences, and -ing constructions. 食べた is past plain; 食べます is present polite; 食べない is negative plain.
Common Japanese Mistakes
- ·Skipping hiragana mastery before kanji. Hiragana is the foundation — learn all 46 cold first.
- ·Confusing on-yomi (Chinese-derived reading) and kun-yomi (Japanese reading) of the same kanji.
- ·Mixing up は (topic) and が (subject) particles. Use ↓ rules of thumb but expect nuance.
- ·Treating keigo as one register. There are actually three (sonkeigo, kenjōgo, teineigo) plus humble alternatives.
Study Tips for Japanese
- ·Master hiragana and katakana in week 1. Don't move to kanji until both are automatic.
- ·Use spaced repetition for kanji (Anki, WaniKani, or SimpleQuizMaker flashcard mode).
- ·Listen to native podcasts (NHK Easy Japanese, Nihongo con Teppei) daily for 15 minutes.
- ·For JLPT prep, drill official past papers in the last 4 weeks before the exam.
