Why the free tier is real, not a trial

The free tier covers the workflow most teachers actually need: one quiz per week, generated from a textbook chapter or lecture notes, shared with the class via link. 5 generations per month × ~9 months of school = 45 quizzes per academic year, with no per-student cap and full sharing.

That's enough that many teachers never need to pay. We'd rather have honest free users who tell their colleagues than dishonest free trials that convert to disappointment. The paid plans cover the use cases where the free tier genuinely runs out — file uploads, longer quizzes, per-student analytics, exports and Google Classroom sync.

What you trade off on free

We're transparent about this because confusion costs everyone time:

• 10 questions max per quiz on free. Most weekly classroom quizzes are 10–15 questions. Free covers the “most” case; paid plans cover up to 50–100.
• No file upload on free. You can paste text or use the topic field. Uploads (PDF, DOCX, images, YouTube) require a paid plan.
• No analytics dashboard on free. You see total scores in the dashboard but not per-question difficulty or per-student tracking. Paid plans unlock these.
• No CSV export on free. For exam-week gradebook integration, a paid plan is recommended.

When to upgrade — and when not to

Stay on Free if:

• · You teach one subject and quiz weekly.
• · You hand-type your quiz source rather than uploading PDFs.
• · You don't need per-student analytics.
• · You're testing whether the AI generation quality fits your subject before committing.

Upgrade to a paid plan (from $1.99/mo) if:

• · You generate more than 5 quizzes per month.
• · You want to upload textbook PDFs or chapter scans instead of typing.
• · You need longer quizzes (up to 50–100 questions) for unit tests.
• · You need per-student tracking to identify students who need support.
• · You use Google Classroom and want grade sync.
• · You need CSV export for your gradebook.
• · The school's PD or technology budget can reimburse it.

What teachers actually do on free

From the most common patterns we see:

• · Friday quiz: paste Monday-through-Thursday lecture notes, generate a 10-question quiz, share the link Friday morning.
• · Unit pre-assessment: paste the upcoming chapter's headings, generate a diagnostic quiz to see what students already know.
• · Exit ticket: 5 quick questions on today's lesson, results review at the end of class.
• · Sub plans: when out unexpectedly, paste the planned reading; substitute teacher administers the auto-generated quiz.
• · Test review: cumulative quiz on prior units before the unit test — a structured way to recover prior content.

Free tier is a no-strings-attached test drive

You can spend an entire school year on free without paying anything. We'd rather you do that and recommend us to a colleague than feel pressured into a subscription that doesn't fit your workflow yet. When you do upgrade, it should be because a real ceiling got in your way, not because of a trial countdown.
